Homemade Waffles from Scratch

There’s nothing like the smell of waffles sizzling in the iron on a slow morning. Out here on the ranch, breakfast is more than a meal — it’s the fuel that carries us through the day’s work and the quiet moment we share before heading out to the barn or pasture.

Homemade waffles are a staple in my kitchen. They’re simple, filling, and always a hit whether it’s just my cowboy and me or the whole family gathered around the table. I like to whip up a batch on weekends, but they’re easy enough for a weekday too — especially since leftovers freeze beautifully and pop right back to life in the toaster.

This recipe is buttery, golden, and crisp on the outside, yet soft and fluffy inside. Around here, we top ours the cowboy way: with a generous drizzle of maple syrup and a big blob of raw butter melting right into every square.
